3D model description

Welcome to Modular Mechanics! I have my first rotational to linear mechanism for you today! And for those fishermen out there, this mechanism might be familiar to you: a Spooling Mechanism. This clever mechanism is in all kinds of things that wind (sewing machines, fishing rods, winches, braided cables, etc.) and ensures the thread, cable or line doesnt get bunched up while it is being wound up on a spool (or sometimes called a skein). This mechanism works by using a follower (the paddle shaped component) which follows grooves cylinder back and forth as the cylinder turns. What is awesome about this particular design is that once the follower gets to one end of the cylinder it re-orients itself and goes back down the cylinder. It is this back and forth which ensure the line being wound is evenly loaded onto the spool, and why I love this mechanism so much!

Parts Included:
Cammed Cylinder
Follower
Follower Stabilizer
Follower Washer
Sliding Shaft
Spooling IO Shaft
Standard Base
1.5in Spacer
Slider Clip
