3D model description

I modified the Spaceship Earth model to hold an Amazon Echo Dot (2nd gen). Holes were added to let sound out of the bottom mounted speaker and a hole was added to access the USB and audio jacks on the back side.

To align the cover with the pattern on the base, align the hole that cuts down through the bottom of the cover with the center of the USB/audio cut-out on the base. See photos.

Remixed from "Spaceship Earth from Disney World's Epcot" by SnickerdoodleFP, Thing:3084118 (full Spaceship Earth STL)

6/19/23: Added STL file of design (same as original OBJ file).

6/26/23: Added STL for top half. Holes added (similar to base) to allow sound to reach the microphones on the Echo. The holes also allow the light ring to be visible.

7/15/23: Added STL for a base with no sound holes, intended for those that don't use the internal speaker. Make sure you download the correct one. If you use the internal speaker use the "with sound holes" STL. The cover STL will work for both base versions.

3D printing settings

The base can be printed in either orientation, both require supports. I printed it upside down so the supports were on the interior.

The cover should be printed right side up. The interior cavity is conical to avoid supports and reduce filament. The conical section inside has an overhang, so be mindful in your slicer.
