3D model description

I originally designed this to assist my playing ability on the Tuba several years ago, this has become useful with a few Orchestra mates. Technically speaking, brass embouchure development.

I recently added a version for a larger bore mouth piece. Please refer to ID dimensions for desired version. (Updated Dec 23, 2023)

I designed this so that you could vary the back-pressure needed to simulate the instrument being played. It fits BB Flat, E Flat tubas and large bore trombones including bass trombone. Back pressure is set simply by rotating the rear disc shaped knob.

The unit can also mount to the instrument and be secured with a 3d printed knob and appropriate sized hardware shown in the pics and available as a separate download.

3D printing settings

The ID of this particular unit is 13.2mm. (The Lrg starts at ~14.5mm)

The ID of the clamp starts at 16.5mm. (Lrg 21.2mm) Overall length with cap installed is 51.5mm. Printed Face down with interior supports. Print time 2Hrs 28 Minutes with Buzz end cap. (1Hr39min for Lrg bore and cap)
PLA, I used Overture Professional and Dremel Filament with their standard settings: extruder 220C, room temperature bed (25C), 60mm/s, cooling fan on. Infill pattern set at 90%. ( I also printed the regular bore part in ABS on the heated build platform and it worked out really nice. Extruder temp was 230C and Bed temp was between 90C and 100C.)
