##chez_pieces_p1

The model for the chess pieces. This is intended to be a one color print that is printed twice.

##chez_board_p1

The board is built by assembling interlocking modular 4-unit board parts. To create a basic chess board this model should be printed two times in each color. Each colored part should be fit with a part of the opposite color.

##chez_box_r_p1

This is the main box of the chez box container. It has three areas for for internal shelves. Two piece shelves and a bottom shelve for the modular board. Print this one time in one of the two colors.

##chez_box_r_p2

This is the top to the chez box container. Print this one time in one of the two colors.

##chez_box_r_p3

Each set of pieces has its own shelve that can be placed inside the chez container. Print this twice in each color. These slide into the top two compartments of the container.

##chez_box_r_p4

chez_box_r_p4 is an optional print, if you like having your board modules in their own removable container then print this one time.

hashtag Rules

Chez Basic simplifies the rules of chess, so that a common game system can be applied to multiple chess inspired games. If desired the more complex version of the gaming rules can be found

Chess public domain rules on Wikipedia

##The King

The king can move exactly one square horizontally, vertically, or diagonally. Only once per player, per game.

##The Rook

The rook moves any number of vacant squares vertically or horizontally. It also is moved while castling.

##The Bishop

The bishop moves any number of vacant squares in any diagonal direction.

##The Queen

The queen can move any number of vacant squares diagonally, horizontally, or vertically.

##The Knight

The knight moves to the nearest square not on the same rank, file, or diagonal. In other words, the knight moves two squares horizontally then one square vertically, or one square horizontally then two squares vertically. Its move is not blocked by other pieces: it jumps to the new location.

##Pawns

Pawns have the most complex rules of movement:

A pawn can move forward one square, if that square is unoccupied. If it has not yet moved, each pawn has the option of moving two squares forward provided both squares in front of the pawn are unoccupied. A pawn cannot move backwards.

Pawns are the only pieces that capture differently from how they move. They can capture an enemy piece on either of the two spaces adjacent to the space in front of them (i.e., the two squares diagonally in front of them) but cannot move to these spaces if they are vacant.
