3D model description

Overview

This is a 3D model for an Internet of Things (IoT) mushroom lamp, comprised of the base, threaded cap, and threaded shade that modularly fit together to form a 60s Italian Murano-inspired shell for a simple microcontroller/LED circuit to make the lamp shine. This project is situated at the intersection of full-stack development, 3D modeling, and artistic flair and creativity. #LAMPSXCULTS

Code

In order to create your own Internet of Things device, clone the following GitHub repo: https://github.com/isabellahoch/cs29-dig-fab-IoT-mushroom-lamp/tree/main.

You will be able to find the Arduino code to connect from the chip to the server via websockets as well as code for a robust Node.js backend allowing the user to toggle the lamp on and off from a React.js frontend.

Required Electronics

In addition to the printed model, assembly of this project necessitates:
- Wifi-enabled microcontroller chip (I used the Xiao SeedStudio ESP32C3, https://www.seeedstudio.com/Seeed-XIAO-ESP32C3-p-5431.html)
- LED strip (~120 LEDs)
- I2C LCD display
- cream and/or transparent PLA filament

3D printing settings

The base is designed to be printed with an 0.8 nozzle, the lid for 0.6, and the shade for 0.25 with a custom 10% infill and variable infill patterns (e.g. PrusaSlicer's Gyroid, Concentric, Octagram Spiral, Triangles, Stars) depending on desired diffusion of light.
