Sharabha is an eight-legged part-lion and part-bird beast in Hindu religion, who is described as more powerful than a lion or an elephant, possessing the ability to clear a valley in one jump in Sanskrit literature. In iconographic representations of the myth of Shiva vis-Γ -vis Vishnu, Sharabha form has been built around the Vishnu avatar of Narasimha but substantially embellished with wings to represent Kali and Durga to denote the female powers (shaktis) of Shiva.

The brass sculpture seamlessly blends a majestic lion's form with a serene human torso, adorned with intricate jewelry and draped in celestial robes. With eight arms gracefully wielding symbolic elements, a regal headdress, and partially unfurled wings, the sculpture captures the Sharabha's essence as a guardian and protector
