Description

Summary I went googling for images of New Year’s Glasses looking for ideas to make some 2016 New Year glasses for this year. I found several ideas (which I posted in the pictures) and also found a model here (614592) that apparently also got its inspiration from some of the same older year glasses available commercially. I tried printing it to see how it worked but I had several issues like the hinges were fused and didn’t work and they also broke easily. The glasses were also too small as if sized for children and uncomfortable on the nose’s skin due to the sharp edges of the numbers. I ended up starting from scratch and making a new set that should work when printed even with less than perfect materials and settings. I made the hinges rugged and the glasses easy on the nose’s skin as well as on the ears. Thanks for the inspiration from previous ideas and enjoy this New Year’s Eve. If you want to paint the numbers in different colors print the glasses in white material to have a good color base. I printed the arms with black PLA at 220 degrees and 45 degrees bed. The Glasses themselves I printed them with white PETG at 345 degrees and 100 degrees bed. Fill is 10% and no need for supports because they are already in the uploaded STL file. Don't forget to cut them off before inserting the arms. You will also need to use some CA or gorilla glue to secure the arms in place. Enjoy. auggie.
