3D model description

Jupiter 9 cine lens rehousing

As end result you will get a lens with :
95mm front diameter Matte Box (Clamp-on style supported )
82mm filter thread for your favorite lens filters
0.8 module gears for follow focus and iris control
de-clicked aperture
removed aperture preset
270 degree focus throw
adjustable M42 to EF adapter
focus and aperture marking
95mm front cap and EF back cap
495g weight
91mm long (103mm extended , due to the external focus)

This rehousing kit will transform your photography 85mm Jupiter 9 lens into cine lens.
The housing was designed for LOMZ plant Jupiter 9 85 mm lens (the most common Jupiter 9).
In order to install the housing you will need to strip down all unnecessary lens parts like, outer focus and iris rings, remove the aperture preset mechanism , clicked aperture mechanism etc. Basically what you should leave is the lens block, inner aperture ring, aperture blades and the lens blocks.
By stripping down the outer shell of the original lens, we will have a more solid foundation for the actual rehousing part and will also reduce the total weight of the lens.

Please keep in mind that you will need to buy separately a step up rings set, heat inserts, hex screws , scrub screws , M42 to EF mount adapter and the actual donor lens.
Check my links below ( those are not affiliated links , but I have used those sellers to purchase mine and those are world wide available )

The disassembly of this lens is a pretty easy task even for an inexperienced person ,there are plenty of videos on YouTube on how to do it.
Lenses manufactured in other plants might fit in my housings but are not confirmed, please act on your own risk.
Not mandatory steps but , I would highly recommend to clean the aperture blades if there is oil on them, wipe all glass elements with appropriate solution and wipes ( I use Kimtech science wipes ( the green package ) and Rosco lens cleaner.
Blow any dust particles inside the lens prior putting all back together.
Take apart the helicoid and remove the old grease, clean it with alcohol and re-grease it with proper grease ( I have used bardahl marine grease ,but any NLGI 3 grease will do the job, Ciatim greases will work too ).Once removed the clicked aperture mechanism, the iris ring will be easy to turn, in order to make stiff enough , use a stiff grease ( i have used a green Chinese bicycle highly adhesive grease and works great) .
Tap a M4x0.7mm thread to all holes indicated with RED ARROWS.
M2 heat insert to all holes indicated with BLUE ARROWS.

For the rehousing assembly, don't over tighten the screws, instead use a low or low to medium strength thread locker for plastic (Loctite or Loxeal ).
For the front cap , aperture and focus rings stickers, use high quality paper or better use vinyl. If you print your lens stickers at home , use an A4 size paper setting.
Last but not least if you don't like the design of my front cap and rear EF mount cap, you can purchase high quality front 95mm aluminum lens cap that will fit on my housing from the link and Canon style extremely cheap but very good quality ( no Canon logo ) EF lens cap from the link below as well .
Check my other 2 rehousing kits for Mir-1V and Helios 44-2 , if you would like to build your Soviet mini cine lens kit.

3D printing settings

At least print this in PETG, don't even bother with PLA ( will melt in your car while you reach your shooting location in a hot day ).
At lease 4 walls, I would reccomend 6, 15% infill.
No supports needed, I have designed this housing with no supports in mind in order to have the best quality possible.
No sanding, grinding, chopping, cutting or any other action is requared once you print all parts, if your printer is well calibrated should fit perfect. The only thing you need to execute is to remove the seam ( unfortunatelly this is the reality with the FDM printers).
