RC Scale USS Yorktown WWII Carrier w/ Aircraft

Another EXCELLENT stl file from TheFoxInTheBox that I need to add to my large RC project pile in addition to the battleships I have in My Designs. This is scaled huge, as in 60 inches in length. I wanted a WWII carrier since I would love to fill the deck with Wildcats, Dauntless and Devastators. I have created folded wing versions of the storage capable aircraft.

The first files are the 3mf files for the hollowed hull and deck. I will be adding to the files the separated files suitable for my Ender 3 and Elegoo Saturn. Note that I have kept the hangar decks opened up so you can place some aircraft down below. Future files will also include guns, aircraft and such.

Updates:

4/1/22: Added files for aircraft - F4 Wildcat; SBD Dauntless; TBD Devastator. The Wildcat and Devastator have a flat and folded wing option. Credit to original models for these planes are included on the separate plane Thingiverse pages. Also, added stl file for separated hull.

4/6/22: Replaced top deck with a more detailed version with windows, elevator indentations, hatches, AA guns, ladders, life rafts, portholes, etc. Also added searchlight files that you can insert LED lights, if desired. Still more work to do on gunwales, etc.

4/7/22: Detailed the hull sections and opened up shafts. Final detailed deck and hull stl and 3mf files loaded as well as a version about 18" long with all pieces together and some aircraft on deck and in the hangar. Also, it appears the aircraft need to be scaled down to about 90-86% of their current size to be closer to scale. I think I am done!!

4/8/22: Uploaded revised Dauntless file to move bomb forward for better CG position.

4/22/22: I found out that the file for the hull had some thin spots, so I split the hull to fit on my Ender 3 and thickened up the thin areas and removed the details for resin printing (AA guns, ladders, etc.) The hull piece number is also embossed on the piece to make assembly in order easier. All of the clean STLs for the hull sections are in the zip file. I also uploaded separate boat and davit files for the right and left side, AA guns and ladder, and new aircraft files with thicker landing gear, as I found on my tests the gear needed some reinforcing.

4/27/22: Updated the files for the split hull sections 5 & 6 due to open edges - thanks for the comment! They are now enclosed and should print intact. Also, on the test prints for the aircraft it looks like the Wildcat needs to be scaled to about 88%, The Devastator to about 90% and the Dauntless to about 86% - sorry, but I did not do fully accurate scale calculations on these...

8/18/22: On the deck, I recommend putting the 3MF file into Microsoft's 3D Builder and split into sections that will fit on your printer. Save each split section as an STL and you are good to slice.

8/12/23: reloaded hull 10 and 5 (now 5d) as there seemed to be an error when trying to slice it. When I performed a fix on each one, 10 came out fine, but I still get an error on 5; however, when I load it into Cura to slice, all works fine.

Edit 3/14/24: I added a deck 3mf and stl file with all the guns removed for easier printing. All AA guns are in a separate file.

Recommend aircraft in resin as well as other small details, but the hull and deck should be good in FDM.
