3D model description

#HALLOWEENXCULTS

3D print your own piece of animation and film history with these 3D and 2D printable Halloween animations!

The Invention of the Phenakistoscope in December of 1832 was the first time a set of sequential images was assembled into a fluid animation, producing the illusion of motion. This device paved the way for film as we know it today.

To mount an animation disc onto the Phenakistoscope, unscrew the knob and place the center square cut out of an animation disc onto the square disc guide and screw the knob back into place. To see the animation, face a mirror, spin the viewing disc, and watch the discs reflection through the slots on the outer edge of the disc as it spins. The slots isolate each individual frame of the animation producing a fluid illusion of motion.

This Phenakistoscope comes with 18 animation discs:

4- 3D printable and 7- 2D printable Halloween themed discs and
7 - various 2D printable discs.

The 2D discs are best printed on a thick cardstock and must be cut out by hand with an Xacto knife.

This design requires a standard 608-2RS ball bearing

3D printing settings

Print the Knob with supports and the Viewing Disc face down with supports.

I have also provided an Axel Fit Test and Bearing Fit Test print so you can be sure the bearing will fit into the Viewing Disc and the Axel of the Phenakistoscope when printed on your 3D printer.
