Historical background :
The Waco CG-4 Hadrian was a military glider used by the United States and other Allied nations during World War II. It was specifically designed for the purpose of transporting troops and equipment behind enemy lines in support of airborne operations and other missions.

The CG4 was a high-wing glider with a fabric-covered wooden frame. It had a crew of two and could carry a variable number of troops, typically between 13 and 15 fully equipped soldiers. The glider featured a hinged nose section, allowing for easy loading and unloading of troops and cargo.

These gliders were used extensively during Operation Overlord, the D-Day invasion of Normandy, to transport troops and equipment into battle zones without the need for powered aircraft or parachuting. They were also employed in other major operations, such as Operation Market Garden.

The CG-4 Hadrian played a crucial role in the rapid deployment of troops and materiel and contributed to the success of many Allied operations during World War II. However, the use of gliders waned as powered transport aircraft and helicopter technology advanced, making them obsolete in the post-war era.
