3D model description

Cosmic radiation resistant multistage infrastructure development shown in the distinct phases:

Parachute/rocket lander re-uses its double skin parachute balloon. The fabric is made from multilayer blend of composite fabric (vacum insulated sandwich, aerogel, self healing seal layer, dust repellent solar film on exposed faces). The landers themselve will become the habitat airlock /emergency shelters pods).

Each lander carries specific equipment to aid construction: personel, insulator foam, air supplies, soil (for greenhouses), wiring, pipe extruders, excavator etc..). Once emptied, the landers become airlocks. The parachutes become airtight membrane for a inflatable dome structure.

Parachute balloon is deployed (by personel and/or robots) on robo-dozer leveled ground and anchored at Perimeter and inflated with pumped air from air supply lander. As noted on diagram: the double skin parachute is inflated with compressed air and the outer double layer is then filled with water (pumped from underground ice melt) which solidifies to form a HOLLOW DOME OF SOLID ICE. This ice will form a radiation resistant structural layer and be self healing in case of micrometorite puncture (any ecaping air will melt ice and water vapor will react with foam seal coating on fabric.)

Gabion mesh are anchored aound the new inflated dome and backfilled with SAND AND ROCKS with mars-bulldozer. The sand and rocks and bound together by using a mix of underground ice melt and sand injected with pumps to form a mortar cement to bind the regolith dust, sand and rocks. The robo-dozers pile the regolith high up on the dome until only the top of the ice dome is left exposed forming a transluscid skylight. The thick talus of local mineral rocks and sand will form a cosmic radiation resistant wall to protect the imported life forms.

Using the airlock seal hardware from the landers, access into the dome is secured and multiple domes can be interconnected as shown. The interior of the domes will enclose thousands of square feet of habitable airtight insulated space making a shirt sleeve environment for communal living by colonists. Within the habitants will be able to fit out the space with racks of hydroponic fish&vegetable farms. Eventualy real dirt samples from Earth will be brought in and mixed with martian sand to make green domes dedicated to scrubbing CO2 with aboundant plant life from seeds and filter waste water from habitat domes.

Power will come from solar panel arrays and solar power satellites orbiting above. Chemical factories wii extract Oxygen and chlorates from the abundant minerals to fuel the trip back and forth between Earth and Mars.
