3D model description

This is a self-designed quick release for Fanatec wheelbases of the QR1 generation.

There are 2 variants:

VARIANT 1: With base plate for original Fanatec wheels, i.e. 6 holes for mounting with the M5 Allen screws

VARIANT 2: With smaller base plate with only 4 holes for DIY wheels (it has been shown that mounting with 4 screws is more than sufficient, even Fanatec wheels are sometimes only connected to the QR1 with 4 screws)

Required parts:

1 screw M6 20mm

1 screw M8 35mm

1 nut M8

1 washer M8

Regardless of the variant, the QR offers enough space inside for the steering wheel pins in the wheel base, both for the original Fanatec steering wheels and for DIY wheels with e.g. SRM Fanatec emulator.

I designed the QR because I was always dissatisfied with the QR1 from Fanatec. Now that the QR2 generation has arrived, however, I think it would be a shame to spend too much money on a replaced and faulty QR system just because you don't want to upgrade to the sinfully expensive new QR system.

My QR was tested for a total of 2 months for 8 Nm and did not have any axle play at the beginning, as is mainly known from QR1 lite, nor did such play occur due to signs of material fatigue. The sleeve around the QR eliminates axle play and the small safety screw completely prevents the small amount of slippage you feel when steering with QR1 lite.

I am aware that the system is not the "quickest" quick release, but this small disadvantage absolutely pays off in terms of the connection quality between the wheelbase and wheel. Changing a steering wheel still only takes a few seconds and for people who rarely change steering wheels anyway, changing the steering wheel is not a problem.
