3D model description

Sunshield design for DJI SMART CONTROLLER controller.

It is a foldable design that uses magnets to maintain the open or closed position. The carbon fiber finish is actually an adhesive vinyl. In the download files you can find a video with the steps to follow to assemble this sunshade.

Additionally you can find some sticks and arms / brackets for the Smart Controller.

Here are some links to other things you will need:

I am working on the design for the DJI RCPRO and all other controllers of this brand.

3D printing settings

This design contains moving parts, a good adjustment of your printer may help. You may need to touch up some parts or sand them after printing.

You can use PLA, but I advise materials that can withstand sunlight and temperature, such as PETG, ASA, CF, etc.

I have used PLA+ for the support arms, since it is a very rigid and not very flexible material. The rest of the parts I have printed in PETG CF, even more rigid and resistant to heat and sunlight.

I used the printing parameters corresponding to the filament manufacturer's instructions.

The layer height I used was 0.12, to get a better finish, but at 0.16 you can also get good results.

For the support arms it is important to use several wall perimeters. I have used 5 wall lines and this way the part is stiffer and stronger.

It is not necessary to use supports on any part to print. You may have to sand or touch up some part after it is printed, it all depends on the setting of your 3D printer.

You have to pay attention in the placement of the magnets so that the polarity is correct.

In the attached video you can see how I have printed each of the parts and how I assemble the sunshield.

Remember that this model is for private use only, and is not modifiable or adaptable to other designs.
