3D model description

Scale: 1:29
Length: 45in
Wingspan: 24in
Airframe weight (LW-PLA): 564g
Flying Weight (2kW Power System): 1,185g
Static Thrust (2kW Power System): 1,120g

This RC model was designed specifically for the Powerfun 50mm EDF unit. Nacelle intake area is 100% of the fan swept area and the exhaust nozzle insert exit area is 85% of the fan swept area. The intake spike has been retracted fully to the scale position. The PowerFun EDF comes assembled and balanced with a 4900kV outrunner motor. Testing showed running 4s on the 4900kV was ok but required at least a 60A ESC pair.

The development model uses a Spektrum AR630 receiver and implements ‘stability’ as well as ‘heading hold’ functions. The vertical stabilizers are fixed in place and therefore differential thrust was set up to maintain some yaw authority at low speed.

This model was designed with a .6mm nominal wall thickness and prints the best by using a .3mm diameter nozzle. The airframe is ideally printed complete in LW-PLA to keep wing loading as low as possible.

All of the printed parts use a sacrificial support structure which have already been modeled into the STL files. Turn off all support structures in your slicing software, they are not needed. The support structures are designed to break away from the part cleanly with the help of a #11 exacto blade or similar.

An assembly guide is also included which includes bill of materials and sources.
