Introducing a groundbreaking project that is set to revolutionize the automotive industry! This is a 6-speed manual transmission with a reverse gear, meticulously crafted with parts printed on a 3D printer.

Developed over a month and a half using SolidWorks, this project is a testament to the power of modern design and manufacturing technologies. But what sets this project apart is its functionality - it’s not just a model, it’s a fully functional transmission!

Based on the actual transmission model of the iconic Toyota Supra MKIV, this project brings together the best of classic automotive engineering and cutting-edge technology.

But there’s more! This transmission is equipped with a high torque stepper motor, an Arduino Uno, a potentiometer, and a CNC shield. This combination of components ensures precise control and reliable performance.

So, if you’re passionate about cars, engineering, or technology, this project is sure to captivate your interest. It’s not just a transmission; it’s a symbol of what can be achieved when creativity meets technology. Don’t miss out on this remarkable innovation!

3D printing settings

For this innovative project, specific print settings were used to ensure the highest quality and functionality of the 3D printed parts. Here are the detailed print settings:

Material: The project utilized PLA, a popular choice for 3D printing due to its ease of use and environmental friendliness. Different colors were used for different parts to distinguish between them. The loose gears were printed in blue, while the gears fixed to the axles were printed in gray.

Temperature: A temperature setting of 210 degrees was used. This is a common temperature for printing with PLA and ensures optimal layer adhesion while minimizing the risk of warping or stringing.

Print Speed: The print speed was set to 40mm/s. This moderate speed strikes a balance between fast printing and high-quality results, reducing the likelihood of errors or imperfections in the printed parts.

Layer Height: The layer height was set to 0.2 mm. This setting provides a good balance between print speed and detail level, making it a popular choice for a wide range of 3D printing projects.

Infill: The infill percentage was set to 20%. This means that the interior of the printed parts is 20% solid material and 80% air, which provides a good balance between strength and material usage.

Supports: Some pieces required the use of supports during printing. Supports are additional structures printed alongside the part to support overhangs and prevent them from collapsing during printing. After printing, these supports can be removed to reveal the final part.

These settings were carefully chosen to ensure the successful printing and functionality of the transmission parts. They highlight the level of detail and precision required in 3D printing projects, particularly when creating complex mechanical components such as a manual transmission.
