I created this battery cover for the 6" Harbor Freight Pittsburgh Digital Caliper using Fusion 360. My classroom has over 20 of these calipers and magically 12 of them came up missing battery covers so I got creative. I printed this vertically and used a brim for additional support.

Cura 4.12 is the slicer I used with 0.16 layer height. I also used the adaptive layer feature with 0.4mm variation. I used PLA+ by Sunlu printing at 209C, 50mms, with a heated bed at 55C.

Post-processing is minimal as you should only need to remove the brim. You can get rid of the "stair-step" effect by lightly sanding the top (angled) layer and it looks and fits perfectly.

(Note: The images shown here are NOT sanded so the stair-step on the top layer is visible.) Only a few seconds of sanding are all that's required for it to look and fit perfectly.

Your printer must be properly calibrated! This is a precision piece and tolerances are tight. It printed perfectly on my well-calibrated Ender 3 Frankenprinter. The final printed part matches the CAD dimensions perfectly.

I've made many things for myself and for others, but this is my first time sharing anything here. Please let me know what you think in the comments and post pics of your makes.

If you feel that it saved you some time and/or money, please tip what you can to help support further projects.
