G1 Ken Washio (The Eagle) - (Mark/As Noble Heart)

Group Leader. Strong and fearless as a hawk, he protects the 4 younger agents under him. He is the only one referred to by the name Gatchaman, the other members belong to the scientific ninja "Science Ninja Team". Although rational, calm and emotionally stable at the beginning of the series, the death of his father (Kentaro Washio), the death of Joe Asakura (G-2) and his constant use of hypershoot in Gatchaman Fighter make him a cold, envious, unstable and heavy-handed leader against Gallactor. Dr. Nambu's death in ep. 43 of Gatchaman Fighter was the final straw, causing him to lose what was left of his reasoning, making him wildly dangerous to Gallactor, himself and his team. He is partially inept in love (perhaps because he is so dense, or because he is so dedicated to his role as Gatchaman), yet he is the one who makes (Until Gatchaman Fighter) the best decisions. There are times when he would rush his decision to retire from the team (because he did something he didn't want to do, but had to do it for humanity). His weapon is a boomerang that he throws at the cry of "Bird Run!". His father decided to pretend to be dead, and as his mother was confined to bed due to illness, Ken's guardianship had to be handed over to Dr. Kozaburo Nambu (Dr. Brilliant Mind). He and his father had a short reunion only for Ken to see him die sacrificing himself to prevent a missile from dropping Van Allen's belt to Earth. That causes a change in G-1's personality. While not in G-1's Suit, he is a mail delivery man in his Cessna. He lives in an outbuilding inside an airfield that his father inherited before his father disappeared.
