Devil of the Dark City

The horror of the Dark City began around three years ago. At first, citizens in the lower levels disappeared and were never found. A short time later, the first upper-class citizens disappeared and the city's Administratum was forced to get to the bottom of the matter. Order units of the magistrate's office were dispatched to investigate, but they found hardly anything except traces of blood. At most of the crime scenes, there was not even any evidence of attacks. But the deeper the investigative units went into the lower levels of the city, the more mysteriously disappeared. Fear and panic grew among the population, and suddenly rumors spread that the horror responsible for all the murders had been seen. Mad descriptions spoke of a creature with long skinny limbs and horns. Many said it was an unholy demon that had been dormant for over two hundred years since the first invasion of Metrus and was awakened by the crash of a spaceship in the exclusion zone. As the murders increased and more and more nobles were among the victims, the Administratum saw no other way out than to call in the planetary defense forces. While heavily armed soldiers patrolled the streets of the upper and lower city, the citizens were ordered to stay in their havs. However, the horror that had come to be known as "The Devil of Dark City" seemed to know exactly where the soldiers were and so the forces failed to find the monster. Instead, the beast managed to murder rows of citizens in their Habs. The panic reached its peak and the inhabitants of Finsterstadt fled in droves. In the end, the Administratum abandoned the city, all forces were withdrawn and the inhabitants evacuated. Finsterstadt was also declared an exclusion zone, but every now and then adventurers and reckless youths venture into the city in search of treasure or as proof of their courage. Most of them never return.
