Child safety lock for cupboards and drawers

To keep children away from certain objects so that they don't get their fingers caught or harm themselves with chemicals such as washing-up liquid, I have designed this magnetic catch for doors, chemist's cabinets and drawers. It works with magnetic fields through the door without damaging the door during attachment.

The 3D print can be printed almost without support fabric. This saves time and is ready for use almost immediately.

What you need:

• Neodymium magnets, round with a diameter of 8 mm.

Simply insert these into the holes provided and fix them in place with superglue.

The key is included in the print template and the magnets are fixed here in the same way.

The abutments are glued into the cabinet body and the drawer with hot glue.

• Hot glue holds very well if the surface has been cleaned well and is not "wet" from cleaning. (So let it dry well)

Notes:

However, hot glue can "usually" be removed completely.

However, this depends on the substrate!

This lock does not protect against theft or burglary

The 3D template was designed for the Geeetech Mazir S, which is an FDM printer and should also be printable on the Ender.

Please do not use an SLA printer that prints with resin. The 3D object cannot withstand the extreme stresses that are introduced into the material, as resin is very brittle it tends to burst and form many fine splinters.

It is best to use PLA or ABS.
