3D model description

Free your guitar playing from frustration with the Knob guard!

What guitarist hasn't cursed their volume knob when it's reset again instead of being at full volume? Placed so as to be accessible for playing with, it is de facto exposed to the assaults of our hand. I've been looking for a long time for a solution like moving the volume knob by reversing it with the Tone I'm not using, and condemning the latter. Or invert it with the switch, enlarging the invasive hole in the guitar. At one point, I simply removed the knob from the potentiometer. Not very aesthetic! I tried to be careful not to touch it while playing, but mission impossible.

There was no permanent solution that could be easily reproduced from one guitar to another.

With the advent of 3D printing, I expected to find what I was looking for, but none of the few solutions on offer was convincing. So I modeled my own: the Knob guard.

*The Knob guard is 360Β° positionable and can be fitted to all types of electric guitar control knobs without additional mounting *.

Simply remove the knob, nut and washer and replace them with the Knob guard. Then replace the nut and knob. The washer can also be replaced if deemed necessary and if the potentiometer thread allows.

Print it in twenty minutes in PLA or PLA +, in the color of your choice, that of your favorite pick for example, or tone-on-tone in the color of the instrument or knob for greater discretion and to avoid distorting the style of your guitar.

Choose according to the pot you wish to protect.

4 Knob guard models available to suit different knob diameters:

If you require more than one size, you can take the lot with all 4 sizes included.

The measurements given here are those of the knob that can be placed inside the corresponding Knob guard model.

There is a tolerance to prevent the knob from rubbing on the knob guard. Indeed, the travel of a knob attached to a potentiometer is often slightly eccentric, especially those with a clamping screw.

The knob guard's mounting hole is adjusted to screw onto the potentiometer's thread. This holds the assembly in place for fitting the nut.

I put my logo on the Knob guard because I'm a luthier, as well as being a lifelong guitarist. This is my very first contribution to this exciting world. I'll soon be sharing another electric guitar accessory. This one has been close to my heart ever since I started this venture, and its realization is now possible thanks to 3D printing. So please subscribe to follow my future contributions and even soon discover the guitars of my making in early 2024.
