3D model description

The best thing about Heroquest is the doors.
Actually, no. thats one of the rubbish things.
Heroquest actually ships with less open door frames than the game requires, especially in some of the later missions. There are a few models for straight up copies, and a lot of generic "door scenery" pieces, but I wanted to create something that was a bit more "Active".
Place the entire door in situ according to the quest map when the players can see the door. When they actually kick it down, just remove the top arch and door all in one, leaving the base in place. This gives for a little better visibility, keeps the "entrance point" marked, and is actually less likely to be knocked over by players with mobility issues (lower centre of gravity.

If you aren't ready to throw out all your official doors to replace them with these fine models, you can use them for specific homebrew rules:
Locked Doors: Same as normal doors, but require unlocking using the same mechanics as trap disarming)
Re-closeable doors: Being heavier than the standard doors, throwing yourself against them in movement causes them to swing open, rather than splinter. If you find a room populated by more greenies than you were expecting, take an action to nope the door and pull it hard shut

The basic door print comes in three pieces. A base, and a front and back piece of the door and top arch. this is all orientated to take up the least space on an FDM buildplate.

The mirror is a single piece, but you CAN stick them back to back, to make the two sided items that came as stock.
Also included is a 6" x 4" image ready to print out on standard photo paper. the glossier the better. just glue it to the back of the print, and stand it up, or, if you are feeling particularly fancy, pour a little clear resin in to give it all a more "trapped behind glass" feel.

I will, over the next few sessions, be adding...

Stone doors (ATOH),
Spiked Doors (MotM)
Cursed/Enchanted doors(WoM)
Start and End Doors (most expansions)

These will all work with the existing door bases, and just require new top parts to be printed

Future plans include
Double Wide monster doors
Half Height /Stuck doors, which will only allow Dwarfs, Gnomes, Halflings, and goblins through (and wolf assistants and ice gremlins.. maybe mist monsters)

These are all sized for the modern AVALON HILL Heroquest. If you want to use these with the classic MB set, reduce size to 88% in X and Y, but 85% in Z, to keep the tolerances acceptable.

As each new design is added, the price will increase slightly, but obviously once you've bought the set, all the later files will be available free of charge., thus rewarding early adopters.

3D printing settings

All the finest details are in the first 3.5mm of the print, so if your slicer allows you to change quality at different z heights, thats where to change the thickness. The display model is printed at 0.08mm and took 4 hours

Make sure the two halves fit together in the base, and secure with superglue. You can use the base to better align the parts.

there is a divot in the bottom of the base to better accept the door, so if the top stands up too far, just sand the bottom down a little.
