3D model description

Step into a sustainable holiday with this dazzling 3D printed Christmas tree, straight from the build plate of the Gigabot X XLT. This tree redefines festive decorations with its vase-mode structure, meticulously printed using recycled PETG. Its translucent qualities capture the essence of holiday lights, creating a mesmerizing display that glows from within.

Perfect for the environmentally conscious maker, this tree exemplifies the innovative potential of large-scale 3D printing, while promoting green practices. We invite you to share in the joy of creation and sustainability. Light up your tree, snap a photo, and join our global community with #freeprintfriday to spread the cheer!

3D printing settings

Material: Recycled PETG, ideal for light diffusion.

Height: Scalable to desired size. The model displayed is 24 inches tall (609.60mm).

Printing: Vase mode on Gigabot X XLT with a 0.8mm nozzle, deliberately over extruded at 1.3mm for increased wall sturdiness.

Base: No solid bottom layers, printed in true vase mode to conserve material and reduce weight.

Layer Height: 0.6033, carefully selected to provide a good balance between print time and detail resolution.

Print Speed: Starts at 40mm/s, slows to 30mm/s as the height increases to allow for proper cooling, and decreases to 20mm/s towards the narrow top.

Print Time: Takes approximately 6 hours to print a 24-inch tree, with variability based on size adjustments and slicer configurations.

Instructions: Ensure no top layers are set to allow for continuous spiral printing.

Christmas lights can be taped inside with clear packaging tape to achieve the illuminated effect as shown.
