3D model description

This roller puts your spool only a few millimeters above the surface, while at the same time allowing you to mount it from above. This makes it ideal for putting spools inside an enclosed printer. Adjustable for smaller spools.

Using it inside your Flashforge Creator Pro? Go ahead and print this as well:

The roll comes in two versions; one that requires support and one that requires a separate peg. I'd highly recommend the former if you have a dual extruder. You could of course try your luck using ordinary supports as well but I'm way too lazy for that.

You'll probably be fine without reading the rest (except the important note in Print Settings).
#Why I made this
I have my Flashforge Creator Pro in a sort of closet, which makes its back very hard to reach and there's no room for filament next to it. However, I noticed there was a lot of space on the sides of the bed and thought, "Surely that can't be enough to fit an entire spool." Well, turns out I was wrong... barely. Given the minimal headroom, I wasn't happy with any rollers I could find, so I decided to make my own.
#Please Note
The 3mf is a project file created using Dr. Lex's hacks. I have no idea what will happen if you try to use it with a printer that's properly supported.

#Base
##Magnets
You can add a few magnets in order to make The Sprool move around less inside the printer. I've added three slots for 10*10*2.75mm magnets. If you want to add some, just pause at about 2.95mm. (This feature doesn't work for me using Prusa Slicer for the Creator Pro so I had to add the pause in the printer UI.)
##Parameters
I used variable layer height in Prusa Slicer to get two thin bottom layers under the magnets (first .14mm, second .1mm) and then increase to .3mm to print faster until I got to the roller slots. While it would definitely be prettier at a constant .1mm, it turned out way nicer than I expected.
The thicker parts of the base don't need a lot of infill but I made sure to add enough perimeters to make the walls solid.
#Roll
##IMPORTANT
If you're slicing the dual roll in Prusa Slicer, make sure the roll and the support are separate objects, otherwise you'll get continuous infill from the support to the roll without any solid layers between.
##Parameters
I used ironing to make it spin better (no idea if that helps but at least it looks pretty neat).
