Lawnmower Safety Kit

Installed on my old Kawasaki-powered MTD GX 51 S mower, this "man-dead" safety shunt.

This safety device, activated by the little white metal bar, must be engaged manually in order to get ignition. Considering the ergonomics of a lawnmower, holding the "dead-man" handle and starting the machine at the same time is more of a yogi's feat than that of a budding gardener. Also, a small piece of tape to hold the handle used to do the trick in the past, and obviously stayed on all the way.

So, to replace this permanent shunt, I set about solving the problem with this Lawnmower Safety Kit.

This little system effectively bypasses this "man-dead" safety device, and deactivates itself at the slightest touch of the mower handle. As gravity is the only element that makes the system work (no spring or other mechanical element), and as it has never been faulted to my knowledge, this system is extremely reliable.
