3D model description

02/01/2017 - Updated design, two rollers widths available and you will need four 608 skateboard bearings. The side supports have a built-in filament guides as well. There is a notch built into the rollers that will prevent the bearings from being pushed in too far. This thing works like a charm, it has been shared on the Prusa i3 Facebook group and downloaded and printed countless of times. Let me know what you thing if you print and use it!

You will want to print the nuts and bolts with a high infill (at least 50% to 75%) I have been using these bolts for a year without issues. And 13% to 20% for the rollers and supports will be fine. Print using ABS!

11/28/2016 - Updated design, clears extruder.

This is a spool holder that allows you to quickly remove and place a new spook on the printer for printing. I am not a fan of having rods or tubes and I wanted something low profile. They latch onto the frame the same way that the original Prusa i3 Spool Holder does with just about the same clearances.

I used the 608 bearing adapters myself and pressed in 608 bearings that I purchased from a local skate shop. I printed the nuts the bolts with a slightly higher infill around 30% to 40% you won't be tightening them that hard so you will be fine with that. I have printed numerous versions and haven't broken on yet. This was all printed with ABS.

You can also print and use the all plastic bearings, which also work but with the bearings it will be much smoother. Just don't tighten the nuts too much or the plastic bearings won't spin freely.

I'm sure using a flexible material for the 608 bearing adapter would be nicer, but I'm fine with how I have mine now.

The main supports I printed with 20% but I am sure that even lower will work just not too much lower than that.
