3D model description

Just a simple idea to improvise and enhance the common Xmas ornament ball with a Swedish Xmas Carnival theme.

As much as I enjoy being at carnivals observing the various exciting play rides, the carousel merry-go-round horse always captivates my attention by their decorative patterns and design. So I thought it was a great idea to incorporate this into the Xmas ornament ball, by having a Swedish touch.

The Dala horse is a traditional carved, painted wooden statue of a horse originating in the Swedish province of Dalarna. In the old days the Dala horse was mostly used as a toy for children; now in modern times it has become a symbol of Dalarna, as well as of Sweden in general.

I added more elements to enhance the outer 'space' of the ornament ball, as I felt it looked rather bare. I used hot glue gun to mount most of these parts in place.Β The result was much better, especially once colors applied.Β

It was a fun and enjoyable creative process while creating and printing this. Especially after finishing applying the glitter bead chain and flakes, enclosing the ornament was the most satisfying moment for me. Followed by tying a ribbon for the top ornament cover and an elegant tassel at the bottom ornament base cover.

I'm sure most of you would have great ideas to spice up the design to your own personalization. I hope everyone enjoys this as much as the kids at my workshop did!

Lastly wishing all a Merry Christmas and best wishes to the New Year!

P.S: Not sure why I can't enter my video link in the thingiverse gallery though, anyway just a snapshot of the development here:
