3D model description

In our Hackerspace Chaostreff-Dortmund we have a Singer Professional XL-1000 automatic sewing-/stitching machine.

We got some very big spools with high-quality thread, and even machine-lathed an adapter for them, but the tension on the thread was too high simple because of the mass of the big spools. The thread often cuts off and dozens of needles have been broken due to that so far. With the new spools no problem, no broken needles.

I remixed a toy-spool for real use, so fame for the nice scad-file goes to the original part by user "creuzerm". The machine has a respooling-mechanism originally designed for the small under-thread-spools.

The only disadvantage is, that you have to use your fingers to guide the thread while respooling because of the height of the spools.

The spools should fit on any standard-sewing machine, but if it doesn't fit yours, you can customize them via scad or thingiverse-customizer.

additionally I made a clamp to secure the spool when mounting the spool horizontal. you might not need this.

The new spools are featherlight and work perfectly.
