3D model description

This was designed in FreeCAD for a Christmas present for my father. It requires a 5 gallon bucket with lid to be modified into this mouse trap. You will also need a small board to create the mouse ramp. The bolt used for a counter weight was 18 grams (according to Google a typical mouse weighs between 20 and 35 grams). The hole for the bolt is 12 mm diameter so any that fit and weigh the right amount should work. I used 1 inch wood screws to attach the parts to the lid. There is a cutting template included. You will need to super glue the bait basket to the underside of the teeter part near where the 2 slit vents reside.

This can be used for humane catch-and-release or you can fill the bucket up with about 1/3 water and the rodents will drown. These may be ideal if you have a lot of possible mice to catch say in a farm barn or shed. The bait basket should be large enough to put cheese and/or peanut butter, etc. inside it.

3D printing settings

I suggest using PETG or ABS if you are going to place this anywhere the Summer heat can warp the parts, otherwise PLA should do. I printed most of the parts at 0.28mm layer height and 10% infill. I used 25% infill on the hinge parts. I used an 8 mm brim on all parts and supports on the teeter and hood.
