Description

There are many pill organizers/cases out there, but none of them seemed to have all the features I wanted, so I created my own.

The requirements for my design were:

  • Morning and evening compartments for each day of the week that are individually openable
  • Compartments large enough to hold several pills
  • Secure but easy to operate latches for each compartment
  • Long-life and smooth hinges for the compartment lids and the latches
  • Easy to read day and morning/evening labels on each compartment lid
  • Reasonable size for travel
  • Sturdy enough to drop without spilling pills (not tested yet)
  • No support required for 3D printing

In order to meet these requirements, I chose to use a piece of 1.75mm filament for the lid hinge, and two more pieces of filament for the latch catch feature. Short screws on each end capture the filament in place. For the latch hinges, I used a screw for each lid/latch.

This pill case will replace my existing store-bought case that only has one compartment for each day (I glued two cases together for my use). It has labels that are wearing off, and is difficult to open. I also expect the “living hinge” on each lid to fail eventually. My case design solves all of these problems.

Nice. I had to drill out the holes where the filament runs trough the caps, though. Thanks!

I'm glad you like it! I had the same issue on my prototype, so I enlarged the holes a bit on the model, but I didn't want them too loose.
