Description

Nozzle Size Indicator

Rotary Dial

Front Door Mounted

Know what nozzle is installed on your X1 or P1 series machine at a glance. Mounted to the front door, this hardware-less design has an easy rotary click mechanism, ensuring that the dial setting doesn't get accidentally bumped when you open the door.

This design is all press fit, requiring no screws or countersinking of hardware in order to operate. As such, the tolerances of this print are very precise. This design has been tested with Bambu PLA Basic and PLA matte, but your machine settings may come in to play as well. Certain components, such as the holder and base interlock, are very tight and may not be easy to take apart again.

Note: Please be careful when handling or modifying the glass front door. I can not be responsible for any damage or issues that may arise from installing this modification to your printer. This design can be printed without the door holder and stored nearby if you do not want to mount it to the door.

Instructions:

  1. After printing the rotary dial indicator, remove the two screws holding the front door handle in place.
  2. Press the door handle in to the slot on the Front Door Holder. This will be a firm fit in order that the dial does not shift while turning.
  3. Mount the Body component to the Front Door Holder. Double check that the handle and dial text are the right way up.
  4. Install the Spring on to the Dial Face.
  5. I recommend using a small amount of silicon grease or similar lubricant around the inner walls, center pin, and top face of the Body model, it will help prevent “skipping” of the spring against the printed walls.
  6. Slide the Dial Face in to the mounting pin, using a thin object to slightly compress the Spring.
  7. Firmly press the Dial Face down on to the Body. There is a slight rise to the meeting point which should prevent the two components from having too much of a rubbing surface.
  8. Turn the dial back and forth a few times to spread the lubricant around.
  9. Mount the door handle and rotary dial assembly back on the Bambu printer, being careful not to apply too much pressure to the screws.

I've tested this design and it works well for quite some time, but the spring component it a consumable part and may need to be replaced after a large number of turns. To disassemble the face from the body, slide a knife carefully between the two components, as close to the center mounting pin as possible. Wiggling the knife should cause the two pieces to separate cleanly.
