Description

Speed up your work with this adapter!

Furniture kits (especially Ikea) always come with a tiny (usually 4mm or 5mm) Allen Key that you need to screw in a bunch of machine threaded bolts. Often you have to do quite a few rotations to set the bolt, meaning you spend a bunch of time twiddling these dinky Allen Keys.

Maybe you went out and spent 12 bucks on an Allen Key drill bit set…. if you did carry on… but if you're like me and were too cheap and lazy to buy one, but also have an expensive 3d printer and some filament laying around…

This adapter is meant to accept 4, 5 and 6 mm Allen Keys that I have laying around from previous Ikea purchases. If another size is needed let me know. The Allen Key can be inserted into the adapter, secured in place with the plug (Looks like Ninji from SMB2!), and then can be quickly mounted on any standard ¼" hex shank screwdriver bit.

The tolerances are tight for the Allen Key, plug and hex shank hole - helps keep things steady and prevent slipping. That said, in a pinch you can always go up a size on the adapter.

The intention of this is to speed up the initial sinking of the bolt…. not to deliver a significant amount of torque. Use it to get the bolt most of the way in, then do the last few turns manually.  I printed mine with PETG
