Description

This thing is incredibly satisfying, being a practical way to store some IFIXIT bits in my pocket while also scratching the itch to have a magnetic slide actuator in my pocket. It takes a bit of time for it to wear in, much like any good edc tool, but once it is smooth the thing is like butter to use. The metal bits give it a nice heft, and the magnets are strong enough to hold all the bits in under vigorous shaking while also being easy to acces.

Seems to be durable enough printed in just pla/pla+, but the model works perfectly printed in stronger materials. I have tried PETG and ABS. The ABS required a little bit of post processing for a smooth actuation.

To assemble:

2x M2x5mm screws

12x 4mmx2mm disk magnets

Press magnets into the plastic, making sure all the polarities match. The press-fit should be plenty, but if it is a little loose, just use some super glue to hold them in.

Insert the bit carrier into the bit carrier. If it is a little tight, use some fine gril sandpaper to knock down the high spots that get it stuck. Add just a small dab of the Bambu labs grease to make it extra smooth.

Put on the Cap and screw in place.

Now the hard part, picking which bits you need the most;)
