Description

This is a remix to make a giant ball bearing, 200mm in diameter! This is not a simple scale up that would have thrown off the tolerances and created excessive play in the bearing. I've scaled the housing and the balls differently to ensure the 0.3mm tolerances are maintained, so the bearing runs smoothly without a lot of slop.

It does need supports under each ball, but I found the tree type supports to break off cleanly and easily. The bearing runs well as printed but smooths out as you run it more.

It's definitely a fun conversation piece to have around.

I've more recently posted an even larger 250mm ball bearing:

The uploaded profile ran fine on my X1C, and the bearing was free running once I pulled the supports off. A few drops of light oil will help it spin even better. Do you have a concern about something specific with the profile?

No, just wandering about the functionality

Got it. The bearing functions but it's just a demonstration piece.

Bed Adhesion Issue:The speed of the movement on bedslingers, e.g. the A1 mini, made the balls fall of the build plate. The top half of the balls don't have proper circularity, meaning that the bearing didn't work well. It's good enough for visuals (which was it's intended use). i would suggest making the A1 series profile separate, letting the have more support and a bigger brim.
