Description

I really loved the Snowflake box design and decided to design a knob collection for it. This is the first one i designed.

It was done with tinkercad with the principle of being able to create and customize the knobs easily. The swirl was easy enough, it was a twisted swirl tree that i flattened into a disk and then split it into two color segments to get the result i was looking for. Finally i resized and added it to the Knob Base i created.

This is the final result of that.

The connector is included as well and is on a seperate plate for quick printing. You will need to super glue it onto the underside of the knob Top.

I decided on doing it this way because having the connector directly fastened to the knob created a ton of excess support material that seemed wasteful.

The connector needs to be glued to the underside of the knob (the side of the connector that is facing the build plate.) The textured surface from the build plate will act as a glue interface for the knob underside. The Circle indent where the connector is to be glue is bigger than the connector intentionally in case you want to pool a little bit of super glue around the rim of the connector for added strength.

The knob top can be printed with or without supports, both ways work. Without supports will leave a line like texture on the underside where the indent is for the connector but doesn't interfere with gluing the connector to it.

Once the two pieces are glued together it can be glued to the top connection gear on the snowflake gift box cover and will function just like the original design's turn mechanism.

From friends that i have shown it to they say it looks like a vintage candy.

I will have other knobs coming out shortly as i'm just doing a test print of them to make sure they're viable.

I will also be releasing the knob base in case anyone wants to create there own.
