Travel back in time with this 3D printed lava lamp.
Note
- Light is distorted based on viewing angle due to transparent filament and angles of the glass component.
Printing Instructions
- Base and cap printed using PLA with 2 walls. For lighter colors, increase the walls to reduce light bleed.
- The glass component was printed using the Print Glass method with transparent PETG. The included Glass profile has most of the settings needed to print, but some adjustments are needed to the filament settings. Overture transparent filament was used for these models.
- Select one of the lava models on the first plate. A single wall print gives the best appearance, but 2 of the included models were difficult to print with just a single wall.
- Slow down speed and acceleration for the best prints.
LED
- Puck LEDs measuring 30mm diameter x 25mm height were used.
- Purchased at Walmart and included a remote allowing for several colors and effects.
Assembly
- Place the puck LED in the base.
- Place the lava over the LED and press into place.
- Slide the glass into the base, it will fit over the inner base lip.
- Add the cap to the top of the glass.
