Description

The original of this by compute4you is a fantastic desiccant container for use with spools sealed in bags: It puts the desiccant where it is needed - with the filament - not in the core of the spool where the vacuum bag seals it off from the filament. And it exposes a large surface area of the the desiccant. Also, this is a brilliant design with the largest parts - the side walls - just two layers thick. Requires little filament and little time.

So why a remix? Primarily to get more of a good thing. This is scaled up to hold 2x volume of desiccant, by increasing the length and width by 40%. The height was not changed. The original held quite a small amount of desiccant and if you're here you're using bulk desiccant, so why not use a good amount to keep that filament dry a long time before swapping?

I also added an optimized lid that goes on easily and holds the inner and outer edges of the walls, based on compute4you's modified lid. I include an alternate lid that has a full-length groove if you want a really secure fit (which is only very slightly harder to put on). You'll find the alternate off to the side of the build plate in the project file. You only need to print one of the two lids.

Finally, the nuts are scaled down 5% relative to the holes, because in the original they were a gnarly tight fit. These fit well.

After I print and assemble (with lid on), I put little bits of AC glue here and there between the walls and frame to make the thing solid. Have the lid on for this so that the walls will be in the right place to close, but don't get any glue on the lid!

Hope you enjoy compute4you's design as much as I do.
