Description

Sometimes extra USB A ports can be an eyesore, or an annoying liability when exposed. I had some I wanted to stop up for various reasons, but I couldn't find a model that wasn't a dust-cover style, designed for easy removal.

If you want to semi-permanently or permanently block up one of these ports, these little blockers can help. Three variants are provided:

  • Cosmetic : This is designed mostly to hide the port, and requires someone to notice that there's a blocker there and the use of a little bit of effort to remove intentionally. However this is easy to do if you have long fingernails or a knife. This version can also be made far more secure with super-glue before you insert it … but makes this of course makes it almost impossible to remove without damaging the port.
  • Deterrent_Hidden_Catch: This is a version that makes the Deterrent variety (below) slightly easier to remove, but you need to know exactly where to insert your fingernail into the “catch” at the end that the Deterrent version does not have.
  • Deterrent: This isn't designed to be pretty, but instead to block easy removal and insertion of a USB plug into the female port. These can be removed with great care without damaging the port, but take more significant effort. Superglue can of course make these permanent too :).

Hopefully someone finds these little widgets useful.

Provided in STEP and 3MF versions.
