Description

I bought these "smart light hexagon panels" from Aliexpress (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005823270982.html). The hexagons themselves are great, but creating larger formations with them is extremely difficult since the hexagons are only held together by the USB power connector. Therefore, it was impossible for me to mount them on the wall. That's why I initially wanted to design simple USB connectors.

Then I noticed that there are provisions/holes for connectors on the underside. And that's how these connectors came into being.

Included are 2-pin connectors for the edges as well as 3-pin connectors for the center. Since one usually needs more than just one, models with 30 connectors each are provided. Also included is a small tool with which one can press the connectors into the holes.

When removing the connectors, one must proceed carefully as they can easily break. If that happens (which has happened to me often enough), the remaining pices can be easily removed with a dental pick or similar tool.

The SketchUp design files for these models are also included for download!

In our case, I formed a double line of 31 hexagons. I used 29 USB connectors, 31 2-pin connectors, and 30 3-pin connectors. This made it so stable that it was enough to connect the whole thing to the wall at 3 points; top left, top right, and middle top. To achieve this, I gently pressed against the back (with the front side facing me) to release the front glass. Subsequently, I could easily screw it onto the wall and reattach the glass to its original position.
