3D model description

Measuring at about 4 inches in diameter at its widest point, this articulating octopus (Octo) can be addicting to play with given how many different ways you can entertain yourself with it.

Included are three designs:

- Cyclops Octo
- Heart Eyes Octo (with and without heart eyes)
- Googly Eyes Octo (with and without eyes)

First off, it articulates like the current craze in 3D printing.

Second, it has a finger hole on its underside, so you can spin it on your finger, or on a sharpie marker... you get the point.

Third, you can flip it upside down, and spin it on its head like a top. For me, this is my favorite. My kids love to "battle" with theirs on the kitchen floor...kind of like the Beyblade toys from back in the day! Last Octo spinning wins!

If you made it this far, well then the origin of the idea was just to design an articulating octopus as a keychain. One print prototype led to a bunch of blossoming ideas. After about 10 prototypes or so, this is what we got!

3D printing settings

  • I've only printed this STL using Prusa Slicer.

  • The dimensions of this item when scaled at 100 or 1:1 is as follows: X:4.05" (103 mm) Y:4.05"(103 mm) Z:1.25"(32 mm)
Please note, I have not tried printing this at a scale less than 100 or 1:1.

  • I always used the 0.20mm QUALITY preset and it prints and articulates just fine.

  • At the setting mentioned above, the print takes approximately 3 hours and 5 minutes.

I do NOT use supports of any kind when printing these. The finger hole is tapered and prints just fine without supports.
