Description

Sooo.. I had an idea last week that I thought was very unique so I threw it together, but hesitated to post it as I thought it was maybe too weird for anyone to care about. Then yesterday I stumbled upon another poop lamp, and then went searching and found another one! So I figured I will join the poop party. I promise that mine is neither a remix or a rip off of either as I had never seen one before I made it. I couldn't believe it at first when I found the other one but l love that others had the same idea and it's neat to see different versions out there.

Now let's all light up our poops!

The backstory:

  1. We got the Bambu Lap kit and printed some other lamp covers out there but they blocked too much light or just weren't really what I wanted. *This is meant to be used with the Bambu Lamp Kit 001 but it will sit on top of it and does not lock the lamp into place*. I prefer to leave it loose and I figured all you clever people would be able to figure out a way to lock it if you wanted.
  2. We have had a roll of Transparent PETG dried and sitting around waiting to be put to use. It was time to stop being a wimp and give it a shot.  Disclaimer: This is my first try with Transparent PETG and I have no idea if my results are “normal” but it worked for the purpose.(see Bambu's recommendations for printing if you haven't).  https://wiki.bambulab.com/en/knowledge-sharing/transparent-petg
  3. As newbie printers we had been saving our filament poop because we are nerds but had maxed out the container in use and needed to do something with it.

The creation: (see photos for further info)

The main parts print in vase mode and the profile is setup for a 0.8 nozzle because that is “recommended” for the the clear filament and is also just our go-to size for vase mode. I'm sure a 0.6 nozzle would also work.

The basic idea is 3 parts, an inner and outer ring that is “clear” and a base to sit on top of the lamp kit that can be printed in any filament. There is an optional shelf/divider to also print in clear if you want to add a separated top layer of poop. **The inner ring and the outer ring can be made taller or shorter (scale Z only) depending on what you'd like but the base and shelf should stay the same**. If not using the shelf- make the inner ring 2mm shorter. If you want the shelf, then whatever approximate “thickness” of poop you want at the top can be your height difference between the inner/outer parts. In my photo I left a 26 mm gap to fill and adjusted as needed until the bottom edges of the two main parts lined up. You then fill the sides of the inner ring up and glue on the base to seal it in. I sorted the poop by colour for an attempt at a rainbow effect and used hot glue for the base.
