3D model description

This creation is intended for guitarist friends and users of a tremolo Floyd Rose bridge or its Schaller equivalent.

If, like me, you're sometimes faced with unexpected detuning of your fine tunings, this is the piece for you. I confess I've never been in this situation with my Floyd-equipped guitars. At least not enough to make me care. The problem arose with my first lutherie creation. I fitted it with the Schaller copy. It's great, I even prefer its look to the Original, the one with the white logo. However, after a while, I noticed that in rehearsal, after certain pieces, the settings of the large strings (Mi-La and sometimes even D) had moved. After suspecting that the inserts and/or knives were already screwed up, I realized that it was simply my hand that was involuntarily turning the adjustment screws by leaning on them. My first solution was to put some glue on it. It was effective at first, but after a while it moved too, left traces of glue and above all had to be removed to adjust the tuning again.

It was only after my training in 3D printing and especially in Fusion 360 that I was able to remedy the problem once and for all. After much trial and error, printing and testing in real-life situations, this element was born. I spent a lot of time fine-tuning the fasteners so that they were strong enough not to break, but flexible enough to allow easy and repeated insertion and removal of the object. One of the secrets of the latter's strength lies in the way the part is printed (see photo).

So this Fine tuning guard fits perfectly on a Floyd Rose Original as well as its Schaller equivalent. No guarantee of compatibility on another model of the same brands or on any other licenses.

I can consider any request on this subject, if it's within my capabilities ;), including an adaptation for a 7- or 8-string model.

The piece is fitted by first sliding the longest of the fasteners fully into place, then clipping the second one to the other end of the bridge.

Once in place, the screws can still be adjusted, but if you need to change strings, simply remove the bridge and use both fingers to adjust them more easily.

For gauchers, simply print the part in mirror image to keep the largest fastener under the hand and not on the opposite side to avoid unfortunate unclipping.

Finally, for owners like me of a D-Tuna EVH (visible in the photos on the Floyd Rose model), this in no way hinders its use. The D-Tuna fits a little less under the bridge, but still enough to ensure E passage.

Printing can be done in the color of your bridge to make it as unobtrusive as possible, or in the color of your choice to make the most of this accessory, which I hope will give you complete satisfaction.
