Description

All my prints are 99% single color, so I don't have AMS (yet), but still I have different color filament.

My A1 stands on IKEA “lack” table and single spool holder installed on A1 frame as per default and I want to keep this minimalist setup.

That's why any kind of dry box does not suit my needs, it's bulky and requires more space to store and space on table.

Let me introduce my vision on filament dry bag that's attached on spool holder and prints right out of the bag.

All you need is:

Zip bag (I use IKEA “Istad” 4.5L/5qt bag)

8 magnets 6x3mm (for initial setup and 4 magnets for each additional spool/bag)

Print 4 details (1 detail will always stay on spool holder)

Installation:

  1. Unscrew spool holder and install part with smaller hole on spool holder and screw it back again.
  2. Take round detail with pins and place it inside the bag.
  3. Take another detail and place it on top of round detail outside the bag and press on it until clicks.
  4. Make a hole, attach spool on holder and you're ready to print.
  5. There is also cap to close the hole when this spool is not in use.

You can put inside your bag desiccant and hygrometer.

I don't think any valve is needed for filament to go through out of the bag. For me it's ok just to unzip a small path for it.

I'm not obsessed with super airtight/moisture tight setup. Anyway this setup is better than nothing and it's cheap and requires no space.

Hope someone will find it useful :)
