Description

This heatbed cable cover is based on the original Prusa part. It keeps the exact dimensions for hardware, LED viewing window, cable strain relief, nylon mount, and the passthrough box for the thermistor wires. It is essentially the same as the Prusa but with a 60 degree exit angle to the right.

The goal was to preserve as much as the original part and use the original mounting hardware. By keeping the dimensions developed by Prusa for the strain relief features, it should secure the cables just like the original part and without undue stress. It also does not require rotating the heatbed wires; it uses the positions as indicated by the assembly instructions.

Depending on how your extruder and heatbed cables are run, there may be contact now with the bundles, but it should be light and only at the extremes of the print bed dimensions. Use the optional cable holder to eliminate interference.

Print, remove the heatbed cables from the Buddy Box, remove old cover, swap over the hardware, install new cover, and finally re-install the heatbed cables. Follow the printer assembly manual for detailed instructions.

I printed it using the same presets as the original Prusa part: 0.2mm PETG preset for i3 or i4.

Update Sep 9, 2023:

I found a print path that will rub the cable bundles more than I like so an optional cable holder has been added for the back of the Buddy Box to eliminate interference. Print both parts and press fit assemble. It is a direct fit replacement for the Prusa part and is finished off with a ziptie to hold the cable in place.
