3D model description

Monster Digger was motivated by my son's love of tractors and monster trucks. I took the Moster Truck Digatron as my main inspiration. It is designed to be rugged and durable, as well as lots of fun. Monster Digger has two main body files, one of which is compatible with Fisher-Price Little People. Nails and screws will be needed to assemble this print. I go into the specifics in my video.

3D printing settings

It was designed to be printed with an FDM printer with a 0.4mm nozzle at a 0.15 or 0.2 mm layer height. The main body was designed to be printed in PLA, with the wheels printed in flexible with minimal infill. The axle can be printed either with PLA or with flexible so that it has some shock and springiness to it. Only the body needs supports. The wheels and axle do not.

Additionally, I printed the wheels in flexible with two perimeters and no infill except where I used the modifier to have infill right around the center hub as shown in the picture. This gave the wheels a nice rubbery, squishy feel to them. Your experience may vary depending on your flexible and print settings.

For assembly you will also need two four-inch framing nails with their heads cut off, a lighter to heat them up for sinking them into the tire, and four 6X 1 1/2 screws or equivalent.

For an extremely rough estimate, if you were to print all of this at one time on a Prussia MK3S in PLA At 0 .15 mm layer heights, and 15% infill Prusa slicer would estimate a print time of 1d17h 26 minutes and use 330.22 grams of filament, These are not the recommended settings and MK3S's print very slow compared to some modern printers.
