Modified claw for disc shooter by uhltimate.
Capable of shooting significantly further, and reinforces the fatigue or breaking point.
For me the original claw would often break within 100 though a good PLA print sometimes lasted longer than that. While PLA is likely more durable due to it's flexibility than most other plastics, it's range was significantly less (several ft of drop in the first 30ft). A claw printed in PC was satisfyingly longer range; however, PC claws broke very quickly.
This version reinforces the failure point and hopefully events out the distribution of elastic bending. I see only around 1ft of drop at 30ft resulting in around twice the range of the original, and my claw hasn't broken yet (though I've only fired it around 100 times so far).
The outward force applies the most torque to the base of the arm, so in the original design that part of the claw bends too much. With this claw, I can see some fatigue at the point that would intuitively be the new weak point (right after the brace) and I may introduce a new version with a thinner brace (and maybe a few mm longer); however, it does seem as though some the braced area does still bend slightly so the brace does work as intended rather than just moving the weak point.
Pros:
Cons:
I printed it with at least 13 wall loops (no infill) using bambu's 0.2mm strength preset.
