3D printing settings

Print Quality:

Layer height: 0.2 mm for a good balance between detail and print time. If you are looking for more detail, you could go down to 0.1 mm.

Extrusion width: Generally set at the nozzle diameter or a little more. For a 0.4 mm nozzle, the width might be 0.45 mm.

Adhesion and Bedding:

Bed temperature: about 60Β°C for PLA, higher for other materials such as ABS (about 110Β°C).

Bed adhesion: Hair spray, glue stick or Kapton tape is recommended to improve adhesion. A skirt or brim can also help prevent warping.

Extrusion Temperature:

PLA: About 200Β°C-215Β°C.

ABS: About 230Β°C-250Β°C.

Remember to run a temperature tower to find the optimum for your specific filament.

Print Speed:

General: 50 mm/s is a safe speed to start with. You can go faster with less detailed models or slower for fine details.

Outer contours: reduce the speed to 30 mm/s to improve surface quality.

Supports:

Use brackets if there are overhangs or bridges that exceed the angles your printer can handle without brackets (usually 45 degrees).

Set a support density of 10-15% so that they are easy to remove.

Infill:

Density: 15-20% is usually sufficient for most models, but adjust according to the need for strength.

Filling pattern: honeycomb or grid pattern are good choices for a balance between strength and material consumption.

Retractions:

Adjusts retractions to avoid stringing. A retraction length of 1-2 mm and a retraction speed of 40-60 mm/s are common starting values.

Layer Fan:

For materials such as PLA, use the layer fan at 100% after the first or second layer.

For ABS, you may want to reduce or turn off the fan to prevent warping.

Before you start your print, be sure to perform a test print to verify that the parameters are appropriate and make adjustments if necessary. And of course, encourage your customers to do their own tests, as each printer and printing environment is unique.
