M1A1 Anti-Vehicle (AV) Landmine - USA

The American M1A1 is a High-Explosive Blast (HE-Blast), manually armed, pressure-actuated, Anti-Vehicle (AV) blast landmine copied by Argentina and China.

The M1A1 is a pressure-operated Anti-Vehicle (AV) blast landmine developed from the M1.

The steel main body has a central fuze well and a single filler plug on the top surface (M1 has two plugs).

The fuzes, also designated M1 and M1A1, use a spring-loaded striker retained by ball bearings held within the collar of the hollow plunger.

Tactical landmines are painted olive drab (OD) with identifying markings stenciled in yellow on the top of the landmine.

Some older models have a 19mm (0.75in) band on the side painted yellow with the rest of the landmine painted olive drab.

Practice landmines are painted blue with identifying markings and the word PRACTICE stenciled in white on top of the landmine.

The practice landmines have smoke charges incorporated into the fuze.

The file is scaled for ease of reference.
