3D model description

Full size imitation of the British 2-inch UP (Unrotated Projectile) parachute rocket flare used in the early years of WW2 during the Blitz and other air raids, to light up the sky at night and expose the silhouette of low flying bombers for the defensive AA guns to fire upon.

This is quite detailed with the rocket motor having the fins, venturi, brass contact nuts and locking pins. The parachute flare itself is rather simple but it has the ogive locking crimp and 2 cannelure grooves in addition to the threaded base socket. The two halves can be displayed separately or you can connect them by threading them together - it uses LEFT HAND THREAD.

A 3D printable stencil has been included as well if you wish to copy the markings I used for my renders. I advise printing the stencil with TPU.

There are eight overall parts making up this assembly, 4 for the rocket motor and 4 for the parachute flare.

Approx complete dimensions: 1290mm (50.8") and 57mm (2.25") diameter expanding to 178mm (7")

An interesting option for collectors or people interested in the history of the Battle of Britain and the Blitz air raids!

(Note: This is a cosmetic imitation only, it cannot function or be made to function as a real device. I am not responsible for any mis-use of the printed items. The renders showing paint colours and markings are for
illustration purposes only.)

3D printing settings

Printer with minimum 245mm Z-height print space required!

0.20mm layers recommended for most parts. Move down to 0.16 or 0.12mm for the tail fins and the base socket.

All parts pre-oriented in best printing positions.

The rocket motor tail and parachute flare base socket will both require some supports on the underside. The other parts do not need supports.
