3D model description

Summary

Welcome to my Modular Marble Maze Game! This is a unique 3D printable maze game that offers endless fun and creativity. Designed with versatility and user creativity in mind, it's perfect for anyone who loves puzzles, 3D printing, and a bit of a challenge. Once you get the base created, you can print one of the pre-designed mazes, or create your own and share them with the community. This is just V1, so let's hear your feedback.

Features:

  • Modular Design: Easy to assemble and interchange mazes for endless fun. This is all 3D printed, no other materials are required.
  • Customizable: Encourages creativity in designing your own maze modules and sharing it to the community.
  • Play Area: Design allows for a large playing area while still being printable on an Ender 3 size print bed.

Instructions:

Printing Settings:

- Filament: PLA+
- Layer Height: 0.2 mm
- Infill: 15%
- Supports: No
- Additional Notes: Depending on your printer’s ability to create large flat surfaces on the build plate, you may want to use brims to prevent curling. Depending on your printer’s calibration, you may need to print the pins around 97% scale in the x-y coordinates to ensure an easy fit. To get a super smooth surface on the maze, you may want to turn on surface ironing.

Assembly:

Start by printing the pins, clips, handle, and stand pieces first.

Snap the stand pieces together, ensuring that the circle coming out of the vertical stand pieces faces the inside of the stand.

Next, print the base. Before you take the base off the build plate, I would recommend putting in the back pin and clip to make it easier to take off the plate all together.

Once the base is off of the plate, you can slide in the handle which should fit snuggly. Then rotate the inner base so that you can insert the remaining pins of the left and right side of the stands. Now you have a robust base for precision gameplay!

Creating Your Maze:

Print some of the pre-designed layouts or create your own. I recommend using 3mm brim to ensure proper bed adhesion.

Share your designs and see what others have created!

Files Included:

  • Base - Inner and Outer Shell
  • Base Accessories
  • Easy Game - for 8mm marble
  • Difficult Game - for 8mm marble
  • Circle Game- for 8mm marble
  • Blank Game - for anyone wanting to design a new level.

If you would prefer, you can print each of the base accessories individually as I’ve included all of the STLs with the best printing orientation. I've also included the step file for the base and the blank game if you'd like to make any edits to the game dimensions or make improvements to the design. If your machine does not print good tolerances, you may use your slicer and just try to print the collar as a test to ensure that the full marble run base will print successfully.

Support & Feedback:

I'm always looking to improve and update this design. Please feel free to leave comments, suggestions, or any feedback. If you need support or have questions, don't hesitate to reach out.

Donations:

If you love this project and want to support my work, consider buying me a coffee or donating. Your support is greatly appreciated and helps fuel more creative projects like this one, and possibly more maze designs soon!

Acknowledgments:

The design for this was based on an interesting design from @coolthingsbyjacob, but I was motivated to create a larger playing surface for more detailed games, and creating a stand that was more robust.
